#2: FROSH IS IN 9 DAYS!!!

Good morning! Two weeks before the start of the school year! I, for one, can't wait to see everyone walking around Schulich and hear the distant sounds coming from the practice rooms. But before that…. There’s Frosh (a very exciting event: more info from the coordinators below!) If you're new to Montreal, it's a beautiful city with a lot to offer, especially in terms of cafés, parks, and museums, and I have no doubt you'll enjoy it. If you ever need recommendations (or help with something regarding school), I’m sure that all of us at MUSA will be happy to chat with you! Come see us in room E-106, first floor of the Schulich School of Music building. You can also DM us on Instagram or send an email. We want to hear from you! Some messages from MUSA:

  1. FROSH

  2. Open MUSA positions

  3. Be part of the email

  4. What’s up

2. OPEN MUSA POSITIONS 💻

As mentioned in the last e-mail I sent, we still have some open positions at MUSA: VP External Affairs you serve as Councillor at SSMU council meetings and report back to MUSA. VP Academic Affairs you act as a liaison between undergraduate music students and the faculty/administration regarding academic concerns. You will also oversee MUSA’s Masterclass Endowment Fund! Senator you represent MUSA on the McGill senate and assist the VP External with any campus-related issues. The Senator alone may hold a second position on MUSA in addition to their role as Senator. First Year Representative you relay concerns of first-years to MUSA, organize fun social events for first years and represent MUSA on the McGill first-year council. If you have any questions about the positions, MUSA in general, the elections, or anything else, please contact Chenuka Lakwijaya, President (president.musa@mail.mcgill.ca) or Chloe Martin, VP Internal Affairs (internal.musa@mail.mcgill.ca) We will be holding elections at the end of September.

3. BE PART OF THE EMAIL 💌

If there is one thing we musicians all know, it’s the importance of encouraging and supporting each other in our art. As students of a music faculty, we want to be informed and be a part of what is happening to our peers. I realized that we didn't have a platform to promote musical achievements, and that's why a form was created. Do you have a concert or a gig coming up, are you setting up a project and looking for people, or do you have an event to publicize? Send us the information and we might add it to our next newsletters. Check out our "submit here!" highlight story on Instagram for all the details! 4.WHAT’S UP 😎

Gospel Music Workshop: More than a Song August 21, 2022, 3 PM 555, Sherbrooke St W Please contact Frédéricka Petit-Homme https://forms.office.com/r/cBwSwh41AC

While the start of this new semester is exciting, it can also be a challenging and stressful time for many. Do not worry, it is normal and more people than you think feel this way. Make sure you take good care of yourself, and please reach out to a friend, family, or to a professional if you need help or to talk to someone. Here is a link to multiple resources available for students. Your mental health is a priority!

See you soon, Marie :)
